Mil wants us to get rid of dog..

My mil is strongly against pit bulls ( she was attacked as a child) and wants me and my husband to get rid of our 3 yr old red nose since I'm due to give birth any day now. I love my dog more than anything and told her that's not an option. My husband is choosing her side since she has told him all about her attack and people she know have been attacked. My dog is the sweetest dog ever and obviously he won't be alone with the baby. Opinions please!
