Spotting caused by missing the pill?

I just started a new month on my birth control and it's always kind f hard for me to get back into the routine of taking it, and the other day I missed the pill and took it the next day with the other one. Then I did it again yesterday. I went to the bathroom and I was bleeding lightly today and yesterday. I haven't had sex in 2 months so I know I'm not pregnant. Could messing up on my birth control cause spotting?
