lip tie experience?

Has anyone had problems breastfeeding because of a lip tie?

-Did you get your child's lip tie clipped/lasered?

- Did it help?

-How old was your child when the procedure was done?

I have a 2 month old and just found out her lip tie is the reason for her low weight gain in the beginning, breastfeeding issues, gas, drooling, etc. Trying to decide what to do by the end of this week. I'd LOVE to be able to exclusively breastfeed for a year but I don't want to put my baby through an unnecessary or painful surgery.

I was in the same boat. My LO is 9 weeks and I just had his tongue and lip tie cut. It's only been a few days so I haven't seen much difference but I'm also bottle feeding because my supply dried up with the problems we had.

Mine had a tongue tie and we had it clipped at 2 weeks. I never tried to get him to relatch because he's such an angry and impatient eater.  Definitely get it fixed because it can cause speech and reading problems later.

Our baby had both a lip and tongue tie, so bad she lost 11% of her weight in 2 days in the hospital. She couldn't even suck from a bottle. We got it lasered when she was 3 days old and over the next two weeks she more than doubled the amount of weight the pediatrician wanted her to gain. It was truly a life saver for us and worth it! She breast feeds like a champ now. The oral surgeon who did the lasering said she would have had problems with speech and her teeth too.

Yes he had both a lip and tongue tie. I went to lactation consultant who spotted it and recommended clipping them. Did so at 2 weeks and spent another 4 weeks working with the lc intensively to get him to learn how to suck properly. At 6 weeks he was perfect and we went without the nipple shield. It was life changing for us!

We had my sons lasered at two weeks old. He cried for literally one minute and then was fine. It was so easy and has changed our lives. I can exclusively breastfeed now, he's gaining weight and is a happy baby. I say do it! It was the best choice for us!

Both my sons had it and both were lasered. My first I didn't find out till he was 1 year old that he had a lip tie and he always had issues breast feeding. With my second he had his removed at 2 weeks and I'm still having a hard time teaching him how to latch at two months cause he's used to the lip tie preventing it. I would get it removed ASAP. It can cause issues with their teeth later on. Good luck!
