How is your relationship with your mother?

Question

I just want to know about other ladies relationship with their mothers are.

I guess I should say I don't think I ever felt so close to my mom to where I could tell her everything. Now that I live 3 hours away from her I dont see her very often and she barely calls me. I'm the one that has to call her in order to talk. I kind of wish my relationship with my mother was like Lorelai and Rory Gilmore from the Gilmore Girls. I feel like even if I did try to talk to her it really be up to her to change our relationship for the better.  I know that people get busy and I can't talk every day so I thought maybe sending daily emails would be a good way to connect with her better and she hasn't respond to a single one.

I also feel like I've been replaced in a way, because my brother has a wife and they live at home with our parents. My sister in law tells my mother everything apparently. My mother is very nice to her and I know she probably does a lot for her just like she use to do for me growing up. I just found out that my mother has been wanting a grandbaby and has been buying baby clothes for both genders and other baby stuff for a long time. Now I just found out my sister in law is pregnant.(which bums me out because I want a baby so bad) So I guess I just feel left out in a way and like I don't even matter anymore.

I was close with mom before she died. We lived about an hour away. She never called, in that time it was always children who called parents.  I'm ok with this, I told her everything, even though she wasn't the type to gossip or want yo talk about everything.  When she got sick she moved closer to my brother and his family. In a way I was sad, but also grateful they had a chance to bond since I had that closeness for so long. I'll tell you this....don't ever hold a grudge. Take it upon yourself to build the relationship you want but accept her for who she is. Now that my mom is gone I see just how similar we are, esp since I'm about to be a mother. I'm not more the warm and fuzzy type than she was and my desire to talk all the time is a personality type, one my mom didn't share and one my child might not share either. Doesn't mean there's less love. Your mom will never love her daughter in law more than you, I promise. She might appreciate her and like her but the bond you share is irreplaceable.  Keep sending the emails, they mean more than you realize. And tell her in one just how much you miss her, love her and can't wait to see her. My fondest memories are of visiting my mom before she moved, weekends spent at her house knowing she would die soon and knowing how precious the time was. And I'm grateful to mu sister in law for taking such good care of my mom when I couldn't.

I've always had a solid relationship with my mom. Since I was a teen I could tell her anything and know that she'd support me no matter what. Now that I'm in my mid 20's it's still like that. I'd be lost without my mom.

Strangely enough, my mom and I have gotten closer since I got married. Before that, we had a strained relationship although we loved/love each other. I could never talk to my mom about personal things, still can't mostly but we are much much better now.

My mom is very dramatic and hard to have a normal relationship with. I'm often the parent, giving her advice and talking her out of bad moods. But at the same time, she criticizes my parenting like no other. I'm actually thankful my mom lives 2 hours away so shes not bringing her negativity into my house.

I'm one of those rare people that has an awesome MIL. Or maybe she's just normal but seems better by comparison?

I don't see my mother. She became a drug addict so I quit seeing her. I'm now 16, but when I was only ten seconds abandoned my brothers and I. I was left to raise a 3 month old baby. Today was the first time I saw my mother since my birthday. (Back on June 7th)

I have a terrible relationship with my mother. I dislike her so much. She constantly is trying to tell me how to parent and that I'm going to "break my sons spirit" because I make him follow rules and listen. I refuse to have my son grow up like I did. She's rude she's mentally and verbally abustive and so fake when other family comes around. She acts like she's all sweet and that I'm an awful person. My aunt and her house are the only ones that know the true her and don't want her around either. I cannot wait until I can afford to move out.

I love my mom so much. She lives about an hour away but we manage to see each other every couple weeks. She stays at our place and we see her when we visit at my dad's (her place is a little small for us to sleep over). She was at the birth of my daughter and I tell her almost everything and we talk daily. I can't imagine my life without her as a big presence and source of comfort and insight.

My mom and I are as clise as we can be. She lives in Italy and I live in Washington state. She'll be coming here for my labor but she'll have to go back :(

Me and my mom have a great relationship. I can tell her anything. I just hope my son feels like I do about my mom about me when he grows up. I talk to her daily as she's 2 doors away.....she's my rock x
