Membrane sweep?

Question

So when I had my son almost 8 years ago I was induced at about 41.5 weeks.

My big question is. When did they start doing the membrane sweep? I was not offered one.

I have a different ob this time around and he said that he doesn't want me to go that far. Which I'm totally down with. Membrane sweep is the first thing he mentioned.

So I'm basically just looking for anyone's experience/opinion  on this

I asked at my 39 week appointment & they told me no. That at 40 weeks they would preform it if I wanted it done

Most doctors will not do one until 40 weeks but with first pregnancies they will wait 2 weeks over due because due dates can be delayed by 2 weeks. My dr didn't pay attention and my oldest went 3 weeks past due date and they had to do the sweep, break my water,  induce and he still took 43 hours of labor and an emergency c section. Good luck.

I was 38+6 when my on offered one, but she couldn't cause I'm still not dilated.

Every doctor/practice is different. I don't know when they started doing them, but my sister had one when she had her son (he'll be 8 in January)

My doctors started offering them at 38 weeks, and do cervical checks at 36 weeks. Both are optional, but I know some doctors don't do them until 39/40 weeks.
