Need answers??

I'm 18 ,I been on depo9 months but I still have my period the same but longer ,I went to the doctor and he said my body not immune to the depo shot and that it takes a year ,well I'm happy it's not working me and my boyfriend really want a baby I will be moving with him on the 9th next month ,my friend told me I can still get pregnant is it true since my body not immune to it but I still get regular periods, I really want a baby
