Preconception visit -- did you go? Should I?

Did you go for a preconception visit?

Both me and my husband had our yearly physical checkup in December and we are both healthy, not taking any medication. Is it a good idea / necessary? I have been off bc since June kind of trying but no success yet.

We are currently on a high deductible health plan with a health spending account (HSA) meaning we pay full price for everything until we reach our deductible ($4,500), so I would rather not spend a couple hudred bucks on a visit that's not very useful.

I did message my doctor this morning asking her the same question but I also wanted to ask everyone's experience here. Thanks!! :)

We did! We mainly talked about things to get healthy if not already. When we were trying to conceive. If we wanted to up chances if a specific gender what to do. Talked about my cycle etc. pretty much it.

Update! this is what my doctor said:

"You don't have to. It can take up to a year. Please start taking prenatal vitamins once a day and avoid eating raw meat."

I didn't mainly because I've had recent physical/blood work and know I'm eating healthy and had been taking a prenatal since coming off the pill. If say if you have any risk of stds or any other health condition that would be an issue during pregnancy then t would be worthwhile. Good luck!
