Unnecessary ultrasounds?

Shocked at a recent bill from the maternal fetal medicine group that did my 20-week level 2 ultrasound, I'm now wondering what is a normal schedule for level 2 ultrasounds with a twin pregnancy. What was your experience? How many did you have after 20 weeks? My OB has me going in for another tomorrow (26 weeks) to "check on growth." I have b/g twins and have had no complications so far, except a subchorionic hemorrhage earlier in the pregnancy, which has cleared.

Yes, you need to check on growth and will have frequent scans. Twin pregnancies are high risk and can turn a corner at anytime with a baby not growing well or having other complications. I know it's tough, but don't worry about the bills for now.

From someone who's having complications, I have scans WEEKLY since 20 weeks at the MFM and am up to 3 appointments per week since 30 weeks. I have really good insurance but have to pay our share until we hit max out of pocket. Our NICU bill from our first set of twins was 750k... I paid zero of that though because insurance covered it. It's shocking what these babies cost!

I have di/di twins and have one every 4 weeks. I had one at 8,11,16,20,24, and 28. I have one next week at 32 weeks and unless otherwise said will have my last one at 36 weeks.

I have di/di girls Anatomy scan at19 wks since they looked so good I was allowed to go 6 weeks before another scan (tomorrow! ) but have been told to expect one ever 4 weeks or sooner...

I had my anatomy scan at 20 weeks, and won't have another until 28 weeks. My doctor seems extremely unconcerned that I'm carrying two children rather than one. It almost makes me nervous. At my 24 week checkup last Monday, I did see them momentarily on his portable ultrasound machine since he wanted to make sure he was picking up two heartbeats with the fetal doppler.

As soon as I got to 16 weeks all my ultrasounds got scheduled. I have them every 2 weeks.

I was told I will be getting monthly scans after 20 weeks to keep an eye on their growth.

I've had mfm level 2 ultrasounds (growth scans) at 20, 24, 28, 32, 36. Then starting at 33w I have been having biophysical ultrasounds once a week till delivery. I'm 35.2 today so I haven't had my final growth scan yet. They are delivering me at 37 weeks.
