Crying it out

I don't really believe in crying it out. It's fine with me that others use it but I find it's not really for me. That being said, I had to just let my son cry it out... :( it's 2am, he was fed and diapered. When I tried rocking him to sleep, he'd relax and then I would put him down, he'd look up at me and start laughing. If I put him in his crib and sat in the glider, he'd just stare at me and play. I was clearly a distraction. So I got back in bed, turned the baby monitor a bit lower, and listened to him cry until he fell asleep. I listened because i would go to him if he was crying too long or too hard and I felt he really needed me. But after trying to get him to go back to sleep for an hour, it only took him 7 minutes to fall asleep when I left him alone. I can't say I regret my decision.
