Is it wrong for me to ask for an induction at 39 weeks? My family will be in town at that time.

If possible, it's ALWAYS better to let nature take its course. Inducing can lead to higher chance of c-section and other unnecessary and unwanted complications. I'd avoid unless medically necessary. Good luck!

I went into labor naturally with my first and was induced for my second. Induction was rough to say the least. It is definitely much more intense and by intense I mean painful. Just something to consider

I think this is one of those things that only u can answer for urself, as u'll get all sorts of answers from people here as people can only answered u based on their very personal opinion. People will of course rightly argue that a baby comes when it's ready and shouldn't be pushed to come early, and while I personally think there's prolly a lot of truth to that opinion, I honestly don't think it's such a big deal if for example ur doctor tells u ur medically fit for it. I was very nervous abt the idea but my doctor actually suggested that based on my first birth she would be more than happy to induce me on a set date with my second baby because I was considering flying to the UK to have him and we were just dicussing time scales of how long id have to stay there. Even with my third, I went to go see her and she said the same thing, as my births have been so straight forward. So many people have their babies by 38 to 39 weeks that in my humble opinion it's not wrong to induce at that stage if that's what u want. I also don't know what the procedures are where u live Coz I've seen a lot of woman on here who I assume r the US quite frustrated that they're miserable and doc won't induce till its medically necessary, whereas like I said my doc in London was happy to do it, and even my doc here in Dubai said she'd be happy to induce as that is the only way to guarantee an epidural. Sorry this got so long, my point is basically that u will get more than one answer here as everyone speaks from their own experience so u need to decide if ur happy with it and if u r then I don't think there's any question abt it...good luck with whatever u decide!

I see nothing wrong with that. My dr has already told me he will be inducing me at that time because I am diabetic. Your only concern would be if baby is developed enough. As long as the dr doesn't have a problem I don't see why not.
