Whats better Mirena or Copper?

Has anyone gotten the Mirena? If so,what's your experience? Did you gain weight? Or were your hormones all over the place?

I had the Mirena after my first pregnancy and it was great. I had it for about 3yrs and then took it off. After having my second child I thought Mirena would be the best birth control method since I already had gotten it before. Once I did get it, my body rejected it & came out of place. Haven't been on BC for more than a year now. But I was told by my OBGYN that she recommends copper rather than Mirena..

I believe that copper is safer because there's no hormones that mess around with your body's natural ways

I chose mirena because I didn't want the cramps and heavier periods that may come with the copper iud. I've had the mirena since April and so far no problems other than random spotting and a few more breakouts on my face. I've lost about 10 pounds since I got it but I attribute that to increased fiber in my diet and nothing to do with the iud.
