milk drying up at 3.5 months ?!

Help! So at my sons 3 month check up the pediatrician told me my son needed to gain more weight. So I started feeding him more often but then he started to eat only 10 minutes at a time vs 20-25. Fast forward a few weeks. We went into the pediatricians because I thought we might have thrush. We ended up not having thrush but the doctor still wanted him to gain more weight. So I decided to supplement with formula. Lately I've been noticing that I haven't produced much milk. I'm really upset I don't know why my milk is drying. I have been eating at least 1200 calories a day and o drink plenty of water. Is there anything I can do to stop my milk from drying up completely?

I blv u need to eat more.2200 kcal per day.also add 2 tablespoons of fenugreek seeds and 2 tablespoons cumin seeds in ur diet to increase milk supply...

You need to eat more, my supply dropped at one point (I kept missing meals, just forgot) and I got so upset about it I started stress eating and it came back!

right.  I just started taking that yesterday and the same thing happened to me.. I usually pump 3-4ozs then I took a few doses of fenugreek and after that I couldn't pump anything.. smh.. I'm back up and good with my milk now.. I'm no longer messing with fenugreek!! THANKS

Drink extra water ! Pump or feed every 2 hrs , I eat these oatmeal peanut butter bars by nature valley - I notice I produce less when I don't drink enough water.

Pump, pump, and pump... Also try oatmeal chocolate chip lactation cookies, they taste really yummy. Granola and oatmeal can help increase milk production too. The main thing is to get baby to breast often. I had to supplement for the first 2 weeks and they told me to nurse first then offer bottle. After baby nurses pump for at least 5 min. Milk supply is a supply and demand type thing. If the demand goes down the supply goes down, if demand goes up so does supply. Of baby doesn't nurse at all, you definitely need to pump. You can also add a vitamin c 125mg daily, it is a water soluble vitamin and aids in min production.  I also have a laction consultant I trust on speed dial... I recommend every momma get a lactation consultant they trust.

Fenugreek really helped me with my first lo and drying up but really do frequent feeds that helps too.

1200cal/day isn't enough when BF. 1500-1800 is recommended. You can try Gatorade, fenugreek, blessed thistle, Brewers yeast, lactation cookies (I added a few fenugreek capsules to mine) and also Ineat oatmeal every morning for breakfast. The oatmeal has to be steel cut or old fashioned, not the instant. Also, I've heard that supplementing with formula can actually make your supply issues worse. The more baby is at the breast the better. I would try breastfeeding, then pump after and if lo is still hungry give the pumped milk.
