Baby Shower - Save the Date?

We're doing a coed backyard BBQ baby shower in October and I was thinking of doing a save the date Facebook event and invite everyone that will be getting an actual invitation. I don't want to be tacky, so would a Facebook save the date be weird?

I figured FB would help remind people about the event coming up, that way people don't forget to RSVP or to attend. Plus it gives an alternative way to RSVP.

Now days that's the norm, not tacky at all! There's probably a lot of people that would prefer that method!

We're doing a backyard BBQ too! I'm weird about Facebook invites personally. They feel really informal to me and I know personally I ignore half the notifications and events and stuff I get on Facebook. If you're mailing formal invites they'll get them and won't forget! They'll prob stick them on their fridge like everyone else lol
