Spouse concerned about what his family wants..

My mom always has to be with my dad's side of the family for Holidays and her family is coming up for the Holidays this year; she wants to spend time with them without my dad's side of the family. Originally, my dad said he wanted to stay home for Christmas, but his family kept egging him on to come over after telling them he wanted to stay home. Now my dad wants everyone to go to his family's get together. But here's why my mom doesn't want to go: No one talks to us. We sit there like a bump on a log. It's not fair that she HAS to go. Or that any of us has to go(none of us want to go, we want to stay home). I think it's wrong for them to try to persuade my dad to come, it isn't like they really give a crap about him or his family(which they don't, dad told me myself). 

So who's right? Mom or Dad..
