"one of those black families"??

So my friends and I  were conversing and I  was telling them about my day in Manhattan.  I told them I went shopping at Tj Maxx and Burlington, then went to whole foods before going home.  Then they (jokingly?) said that my family is one of those black families that act white because I shop at those places. Like, I didn't know going to those places made you white?  Ugh mildly annoyed. 
P.s.  This conversation was between me, my Muslim friend (girl) and my Dominican friend (boy)

Ugh, its not "acting white". This is the most common form of racism, and proves that most white people truly do think of most black families as 'ghetto'. Ugh. I used to get called 'the whitest black girl ever' by every ignorant white person in the world; because of how black people are constantly portrayed in the media, people tend to believe that they are the majority, when really it's just white supremacists (the media) portrayal of a race long-disrespected. I had a girl who was "shocked" that when I opened my mouth, I didn't sound like something straight out of a Tyler Perry movie. It never stops.

It just stems from that "master" mentality and how they molded and shaped our society into thinking that acting a certain way verses another is either acceptable or not. Smh. I really wish our culture hadn't been white washed aint no Telling how things would have been

Is there black people shops that just for black people?🤔 cause I thought that everyone are able to shop anywhere that they please🤔 on a more serious note, I don't think they meant it in a harmful way at all, sometimes people don't think belfry speaking and I'd maybe have a chat with them and ask them what they meant by it and that it made you a little angry? It's the best thing to do I think

Haha, well, in my area, those clothing stores are generally more frequently visited by black families than white families, so idk how a store can be overall considered a "white or black" thing!
