What is considered biracial, mixed, interracial etc...?

Some friends and I were having a discussion about what it means to be those things. One girl's father is from
Canada and has French, Scottish, Russian, and some other stuff that she said. Her Mother is from the States and her background is Irish. 2 said she was mixed and 3 of us said she wasn't. If everything you're "mixed" with, fits under the Umbrella of Caucasian, Ima just go with you're white, and a few in the discussion agreed. My personal theory has always been, if you can check one box for what your race is, usually you're not mixed.

Example. Usually the options I see are...
-Hispanic 
-African American 
-Asian American
-Caucasian
-Native American 
-Other.

I was always told to check other. My dad is African American but has Irish, French, and a bunch of other different races in him, and my mom is Hispanic. My boyfriend is only African American, therefore I would classify our relationship as interracial.

*forgive me if I get races and ethnicities confused. Correct me if I'm wrong please.

I feel if you can check one of more races than you are mixed. She's listing nationalities..... And I think interracial is where you are different races, again not different nationalities. I do think if your a mixed race couple and you share some but not all of eachother's race than you are still an interracial couple. Especially if you were raised in different cultures, like a couple where one partner is Caucasian and the other partner is mixed Caucasian and Asian (possibly raised amongst an Asian or Asian American culture), I would consider them to be an interracial couple. If one of you is French descent and one of you is British descent, you're both white so you're not an interracial couple. You could be an intercultural couple though.

I am black (my mother is a Louisiana creole with fair skin and grey eyes, my father is Barbadian with beautiful dark skin) I am not mixed. My husband is Japanese and Korean (he is Asian) our son is BLACK and Asian. He is mixed but was raised in Japan so he sees himself as a black Japanese person. What I consider mixed is when you are two races. What I consider multicultural is when you are more than two races. It's late and I might not be making much sense so I'm off to bed 🙃🙂🙃💤💤💤 hope I didn't confuse you even more.

She's white, not biracial. You need to be more than one race to be biracial and more than two races to be multiracial. She's talking about nationalities, not races.

Im Black, my mother is mixed with White and Black and my father is African. I don't consider myself mixed but i am not offended when someone refers to me in that way because it dont make me any less black.

You know, a black person doesn't have to come from Africa either. Could've been born somewhere else like the UK or anywhere! Dominican Republic!  If you are from the US, most likely you are mixed with several different races from the world.

Ok so since y'all are on the topic, I have to pop in & ask because tbh I'm curious about other people's opinions. I am white as white gets - American roots far enough back that I'm really not sure where my family initially came from. He is Turkish. We are certainly an intercultural couple, but would you consider us interracial? Would you consider Turkish to fall under a "middle-Eastern" or "Asian" race? Or would you consider it to be a subset of the greater "Caucasian" race?
