spotting two weeks into birth control pack

I have been on BC for 6 months. Last month I skipped my period because we were flying back from Hawaii (Aug 6). Now I  have had light spotting when I wipe for the last week. My period is not supposed to start for another week. I went to my dr and they said just to wait it out a month and see if things go back to normal. Has this happened to anyone before? I have really bad anxiety, and I may be worrying and stressing too much. Any advice will help!
