public health system pressure
Hi all I am from Australia and I have a three month old baby girl it's a long story so I'll try cut it short -
when baby was born she had her ears checked left ear fine and right ear not so good but the lady said it could be the noise at the hospital as they were upgrading and there were drills going and other noisy tools etc so she had another test left ear fine right ear not looking good then the lady noticed her machine for the right side of the ear wasn't making any sound.
So by that time baby woke up and couldn't complete the test... So we got referred to the hearing specialists, who did her left ear and it was perfect did her right and the same thing she woke up again -
The specialist then continued to say to me that I should expect her to be deaf in her right ear and not to be surprised by this outcome at her next visit, I said could she have a blockage and she said no because she did a test that determined it was clear but when she did this test it first said it was blocked and she did it again and it all of a sudden wasn't blocked
Long story short she went back to her second appointment but she was restless so couldn't do the test properly, different lady this time did a pressure test in her ears and both ear drums were working find but she couldn't complete with the other test as she was wide awake by this time.
I've decided to go private for my own reasons, they called me to schedule an appointment and the reception just kept going on about times and dates before I could even get a word in to explain to her that I'm going private she said oh and sounded disappointed and would let the specialist know and so today I got a phone call from the specialist manager coordinator asking if we could please schedul an appointment I was like um I told the reception that we are going private and are traveling interstate for this appointment she said she knew that then asked me for the name of the place and what time the appointment was. I was thrown back at this as I thought it was none of her business...
