Lip tie?

My son is 10 months old and started cutting one of his top teeth. I was so excited I posted pictures on Facebook and now I've had several people tell me my son has a lip tie. I've honestly never heard of a lip tie until today. This is the best picture I can get. He's not breastfed due to the hospital giving him a bottle in the nursery even though I wanted to EBF. Friend's are saying this could also be another reason why he didn't take. 
Is this a lip tie?

My daughter had a lip tie and yes that's what it is. Doctors didn't do anything for it and most won't. She has a gap between her teeth because of it but it's just so cute! Anyways usually a lip tie will split at some time due to your child falling or hitting it on something. That's what happen to my daughter about a month ago. Now she is doing better and I can now tell that she can move her top lip a lot better and talking a lot more. She is 14 months. 
So if your child falls and bleeds pretty bad, don't worry it's normal and baby will be just fine

My 3 year old has upper lip tie and he was exclusively breastfed so it never affected him. But it is a huge problem for alot of babies trying to latch. If it's thick it'll just cause the teeth to come through with a gap in between
