Am I asexual?

I'm so confused. I have no desire really to do anything sexual with anyone. The idea turns me off entirely. I'm grossed out by penises and vaginas alike. I do have a fetish however that I can get off on with myself, but I have zero desire to experience that fetish irl. Is it just me needing to clear out the system? I also have been sexually assaulted and I'm currently working through that, could it have just put a damper on my experience with all this? Please help.

You might be. But, only you can figure out if you consider yourself ace or not. It can be complicated, but hopefully you can work it out! Asexual folk can have fetishes/want to get off on their own. Aces can eventually want to have sex (and not wanting that at all is okay too). Asexuality is definitely more of a spectrum, it's not a black or white situation. It can change over time. I am asexual and also experienced sexual assault, but looking back prior to that event, I realized in some aspect I was asexual even before then. But things change. You just have to explore it and analyze your experiences and feelings, if that makes sense.

Being sexually assulted might play some factors into this, but it might just be you aren't ready. Maybe you're someone who has to be intellectually stimulated, which is why you can stimulate yourself through a scenario in your mind, but not with someone else through the actual act. You just have to experiment with what you like. Just make sure you are ready, don't force yourself into anything.

What is your fetish? With more info I could help you. Also yes the sexual assault can be a huge reason why you aren't into it. Give it time, all the time you need. You may not have ever been with someone who knew how to please you before so trying different things with different people would help when you feel ready.
