if you could write a letter and send it back in time?

So..I was listening to this song..and it was about a guy sending himself a letter back in time to himself at 17. He talks about what he would say to himself, and also gives himself advice. So it got me thinking, if you could do this, and write to yourself about what you know now, what would it say?

I will start.. I would tell myself to not be in such a hurry to grow up! I would tell myself to wait just a couple of months longer to have sex, because my first time was with someone who didn't matter, and my second was with someone who was my first real relationship. Also, to not be so serious, it's okay to be silly.

I would also tell myself, it may not work out with those other guys, but the pain won't last, you will meet a wonderful man and marry him.

I probably could tell myself a lot more, but this is enough..what about all of you?

I'd tell myself to work harder at school and to learn to drive ASAP. I'd tell myself to appreciate every single moment with my family, particularly my grandad. I'd tell myself to write in a diary everytine I took him out, where we went, what we did, the silly jokes between us. I'd tell myself to take more pictures. I'd also tell myself that those guys are not worth my tears and that I would meet someone amazing one day.

I would tell myself to slow down, because honestly I miss being 17 and only having to worry about school and after school activities. I was so focused on getting to the point where I would have a career and relationship, that I don't think I appreciated that part of my life as much as I could have.

I'd tell myself to love the beautiful woman I am. To truly look at that mirror and see a reflection of beauty and to completely accept myself for how I was made, that tan skin colour is beautiful and I don't need to aspire to be of fairer skin. I would also tell myself that it doesn't matter what other people think, their opinion is irrelevant to my life. That my mum will be out of life and to just hang in there and that I never do end up getting married to that ass hole she's forcing me to marry so all this hell is coming to and end soon. And NOT GET KNOCKED UP before marriage because I had to have an abortion, the most painful thing I'd ever done. I couldn't keep the baby because I come from a messed up culture 🙄

Tell myself to dump my ex. It would have saved myself the heartache of being dumped by him over a text. I was 4 hours away visiting family. We were together 3 years. If I could go back I would have ended it sooner.

I would send myself a threatening letter a year back in time to make sure I don't do that stupid shit I still regret. It's has to be threatening because if it was a regular heartfelt compassionate letter I wouldn't take it seriously and still do said the stupid shit.

I would tell myself it would only be a few months before I can get away from my mother and step father permanently. I would tell her the two years following that to interact with my MIL more because she would love me and help change how I feel about women, and she wouldn't be around after that. Even though I will think I'm miserable in that trash pit, they will be some of the most simple and mellow years of my life. I'd tell her just get over herself, stop being lazy, what degree to choose. Carry a weapon. All of that will come back to bite her and it will take years to get back that time she lost because of them. I would tell her running away doesn't mean the world stops to the extent she thinks it will. Be nicer to your wife, find a different job and college. There's comfort in being realistic.

Alas, I know she wouldn't listen.
