Why do tampoms hate me?

Ok. So I'm 19 and a virgin, and I've used pads since I got my first period at around 11 or 12. One summer when I was 13 I really wanted to go swimming but I couldn't cause I was on my period, so I tried to use a tampon. My mom showed me videos on the internet, had me read the little instructions that come with them and sent me into the bathroom with some u by kotex click tampons and some Playtex sport and told me to try. For the life of me I couldn't get them in and after the 3rd or 4th try I was getting mad so I stopped. 
Around the time I started going to highschool I tried again and had the same issue. I've tried so many different types and all that jaz. And today when I got out of the shower I was like "yes, I'm gonna use a tampon today" so I grabbed one out of my period drawer(yes I have a drawer just for period stuff in my bathroom). And I took the applicator and I pushed it in and it didn't hurt for the first time, and I pushed the little plunger things and I got all excited and when I stood up all the way I was in so much pain I had to take it out.
Why? What am I doing wrong? Someone help me figure this out?

I had the same problem. I ended up just giving up and using pads. For the life of me I could not get them to work! Also, I also have a period drawer. My husband knows not to bother putting man things in it, though every now and then chocolate magically appears in there.

Are you using regular because maybe you need the size down.

Get some ky jelly (just regular stuff) and put a little on the applicator before trying to insert.. put foot up on something like on toilet and kinda squat while pushing it up there.. get it up almost as far as you can before pushing the bottom of the applicator in.. hope this helps I had trouble with them when I was younger too. O.b. ones are the only ones that I've ever been able to use. They are nice and soft. And they don't have any applicators.

Could be a few reasons. But I do know that if I don't insert it all the way in its extremely uncomfortable! When I first started using them I actually put lube on them to make it easier!

It could be Vaginismus. I have it. I never used tampon. I have intercourse but it hurts when penetrates deep. Vaginal ultrasound hurts me. So doctor suggested me vaginal dilators to practice with and I am now able to penetrate inside with less pain. So u could come over it slowly

I had the same issue! I could get it in but it hurt. I wasn't  able to use tampons regularly until I was in my 20's. I was still a virgin but for whatever reason when I tried them they just all the sudden didn't cause me all that pain...I wish I could give you better advise! Good luck!

I have never been able to use tampons, my mother never taught me how because she got tss once. By the time I learned how I could still never get one to stay in position enough to be comfortable and not leak. I tried all different brands and sizes and was never able to wear them. Sorry this isn't more helpful, just letting you know you aren't alone. I agree it sucks but there are other products you could try like the diva cup or the flex that weren't available when I was your age. Keep trying different things till you find one that works for you. Best of luck.

You don't have to push it complety in do you lift your leg up some when putting it in ? I get some discomfort to but I just move it around till is right, also if your kinda drier down there it's harder
