Overdue mamas - did you have anxiety?

I'm nearly a week overdue, I'm getting a sweep tomorrow. I've been so anxious and worried the past two days. Everyone keeps scaring me because I'm not getting induced (unless I reach closer to 42 weeks or it becomes medically necessary.) They tell me about how they know someone who experienced a loss late into their pregnancy because they went overdue, and all other kinds of horror stories. I can't relax and I just pay attention to her movements all day and check her heartbeat with my doppler.

I went 9 days overdue when I started having contractions. He was born on the tenth day. We were both fine. Ended up with a csection but only because I stopped dilating and they wanted to get him out. I had a big healthy baby boy ten days late. My body hurt but everything was great.

The risk of stillbirth even at 42 weeks is only about 5-10 in 10,000. Anecdotal stories can be scary! I know it's totally normal to be anxious when you are overdue, but there are also extra tests they can do to ensure that baby is still happy and healthy. The average pregnancy is actually 40w+5-6 days, so you are completely within the normal, healthy range. Try to remember that due dates are just an estimate, too! Take lots of deep breaths and think positively :) and good luck with the sweep! Hopefully that will get things moving for you.

More often than not overdue babies and mammas are completely okay and healthy.  You're doing good! As long as you still feel okay and there aren't any signs of distress, then don't let people scare you! :)

I went 2 weeks overdue with my 1st and she came out healthy, she was just too comfortable in there! Try not to stress yourself as it isn't good for you or baby! If you are still concerned speak with your dr. Fingers crossed you aren't waiting too long :)
