Any positive strep b moms?

So today was a tough day. Went to the Dr I'm 37+ weeks so I'm going weekly. Anyways got my results back and I was positive. What exactly does this mean what is the next step? My Dr wasn't in today so I saw someone else and they didn't explain it much. Can anyone help

I'm GSB positive! It's really nothing major to worry about. All it means is that during the course of labor you'll need to receive IV antibiotics about once every 2-3 hours. My hospital uses a heplock type IV so I won't have to be constantly hooked up and can still move and position myself however I want.

Baby will probably have to be monitored for 48 hours, so get used to the idea of a full hospital stay (I had been hoping to go home early...oh well), and if you're unable to get at least two doses of antibiotics before baby arrives, for whatever reason, they may want to keep baby for 72 hours but that varies depending on your hospital's policies.

Well my doctor told me usually people that test positive are put on antibiotics during delivery so it doesn't hurt the baby

It can only be an issue for yor baby during birth so you will be hooked up to an iv of antibiotics during delivery

It means you'll need antibiotics during labour. Most doctors recomend that women who test positive go to the hospital at early signs of labour to make sure that the antibiotics have time to get into y
Their system but it's not something to be stressed about lots of women test positive and their babies are just fine 😊

I was positive with my now 13 year old but did not find out until I was delivering and she tested positive it s good they caught it now because they can treat it so its not passed on to baby during delivery although no harm was done to her they just kept us a few extra days and treated her with antibiotics along with myself. But since they caught it for u so early u can get antibiotic treatment early so baby is not affected. I know its scary try not to worry it will work out.
