Leakage in periods?

Okay so I'm currently on my period and I'm using tampons and I'm in school so there's not much activity going on? But when I go into the toilet there's a lot of blood in my knickers? So am I on just really heavy, am I using the wrong type of tampons, or have I positioned it wrong?
