boyfriend wants to go to army

So my boyfriend is 18 and I'm 16 We've only been dating for 4 months. Today he told me He wants to join the army... I don't want him to go I respect that he wants to serve for his country but I don't want him to leave because he has helped me so much with my depression And anxiety and my self-esteem.
