What are the reasons your doctors are doing inductions?

I'm curious. Why are your doctors doing inductions? Mine is measuring big so I'm set to be induced five days early.

My doctor gave me the option to be induced at 39 weeks but my husband and I are fine with waiting for her to make her grand entrance on her own time as long as there is no medical reason to induce earlier.

Pre-eclampsia. Will be induced at 38 and 5/7 unless baby comes on her own before then.  I also have GDM but OB said they try to wait to induce for gestational diabetes until after 38/39 weeks so baby's lungs can be more mature.  I still think it's crazy I'm going to be induced as I've been on restricted activity since 27 weeks because of preterm labor! Guess baby is too comfy now😀

I have the option of a membrane sweep at 38 wks IF I choose and IF my cervix is dialted. I'm not sure if I'll do that then because honestly that's a bit early. I've been weighing the pros and cons because I'm trying a vbac and because of that they're actually encouraging it.

I have gestational diabetes (well controlled sugars) and I've been having contractions for 3 weeks (now 36 weeks)

Because I'm old 😐. Seriously, I don't want to be induced, but I was told yesterday that I don't have a choice because at my ob office they won't let me go past my due date because I'm 40 even though my baby is measuring normal despite the gestational diabetes.

I've never had a labor lasting over 4hrs, and being baby #4 my doctor wants me in the hospital, not delivering on a highway or at home with the kids around lol...so we are inducing at 38weeks

I have cholestatis, and a big breech baby.  I'm a planned c-section at 38.5 weeks/Oct 11. But I don't think she will stay in that long
