30 weeks and Anemic

Went to my check up today..and found out that my glucose test came back great! No second 3 hour test needed! But then I was told I'm very anemic..I've been taking 3 iron pills a day since I was 7 weeks pregnant (my first check up) and my doctor added on more so 4 a day now! She said if it's not up by the time I have my baby via c-section I'll need a blood transfusion...yikes! So my question is..has anyone given birth while being really anemic and what was the results? My doctor said my "number" was at a 9 and it should be around a 14...anyone had to deal with this? I don't want my baby boy to come early or be born with a low birth weight!
