House warming shower??

Question

This is the first time I've ever had one if I do it I'm trying to decide but I don't want to seem needy. How would I set it up? Do I ask for the stuff we need or the choose what they get? Do I provide food there? I'm really never been to one.

I've never heard of registering for a housewarming party. People might choose to bring a gift or ask if you need anything, but for the most part it's just to show your friends and family your new home. And yes, provide appetizers.

I've heard of house warmings, but not a house warming shower. I've been tonhiuse warmings. The host provides the food. Or you can have it potluck style & assign:main dish, dessert, drinks, utensils, etc. if you want. At house warmings guests may bring a small house warming gift (ie: plant, small decor, something for the kitchen, bathroom, etc). But those who aren't familiar with house warmings may not know that they should bring a small gift.

I've never heard it called a house warming shower before. From what I'm used to, they're just called house warming parties. Usually, there is food provided, even if it's just finger foods and some drinks. It's people coming to check out the house. As for gifts, you can make a registry so people know what you need, but I'm not sure if bringing a gift is a requirement like at a baby or bridal shower.

We were invited to one that had a registry....please don't do this. It seemed rather ridiculous.
