Did I introduce the paci too early?

I'm hoping someone can help me out here.  I have a 2.5 week old who is very fussy at night.  She will cry for 5 hours at a time. I think she just gets herself worn out and the only thing that seems to help is comfort nursing. However,  I'm at my wits end so 2 days ago I started giving her a pacifier to see if it helps her calm down.  It did,  but now today she is super sleepy and I can't get her to feed as well. Did I screw up my baby?

She is probably just trying to catch up on missed sleep. She might be over tired.

I gave all three of my babies a paci on day one. No issues. She could be catching up on the sleep she missed out on, or having a growth spurt. When she's hungry, she'll let you know 😉

My doctor actually recommended that my daughter start using a pacifier at 1 week because she loves to suck on everything. I don't think there's anything wrong with having a pacifier early. Just don't overuse it if you breastfeed. Baby may get confused.

It could also be that she was eating so well before due to a growth spurt. And now she doesn't need as much.

When I held my baby for the first time, he was handed to me with a pacifier in his mouth. I was upset about it because I wouldn't have thought to give him one so early. I was never able to get him to latch without a nipple shield and eventually gave up on breastfeeding. He ate well from a bottle though. In your case it might be because the pacifier was just recently introduced. Give it a few days to see how it goes. Good luck!
