Sudden weight gain?

Has anyone every had sudden weight gain and swelling but tested negative for preeclampsia? As of last week I had only gained 2 pounds during this pregnancy which is good in my case. Doctor wants me to not gain much. But now a week later I have gained another 7 pounds and have swelling in my feet mostly with pain. I emailed the doctor but I am worried and would like to hear if anyone else has had this happen and been fine. BTW I am 32 weeks Thursday.
