Help! What to expect?

I see the doctor today for the first time in over a month. I know I won't be getting an ultrasound since he doesn't want one again until 20 weeks. I'm hoping he will at least use the Doppler so I know they are still in there. Do you think he would be able to get both heartbeats at 12 weeks? If he can't find both, should I ask for ultrasound?

This is my first pregnancy and I have no idea what to expect for today's appointment. I pray my babies are still fine. Haven't seen them since 8 weeks.

Yes! I think he should be able to hear both at 12 weeks! And if not, then definitely ask for an US. It alway put my mind at ease to see the little guys moving around! Good luck!

He found only one heartbeat, but didn't try very long. I asked how we know there are still two and he said we will find out at 20 weeks with ultrasound. He said everything looked normal at 8 weeks so they should be fine. I think I am going to switch doctors. I'm not asking for an ultrasound every visit. I just want peace of mind. And I'm also switching because the hospital he delivers at only has basic level nicu. So if something goes awry, they get airlifted and I stay there to recover for two days WITHOUT THEM. They would be two cities away! I just can't do it. ? I just feel so sad now. I hate to break up with him, but he's lot even my normal doctor so oh well lol.

We have had ultrasounds at every visit so it's a little surprising that your physician isn't going that route. You should choose whoever physician you feel most comfortable with. This is a long (and sometimes complicated) journey and you want to be on it with the best possible team. Good luck!
