abnormal cells in Pap smear?

Anyone have any experience with this or know anybody that did?

I'm going to be 24 soon and my pap in January came back with abnormal cells, the one before was normal. I was told to have another pap a year later. I was freaking out but the reason why is because the cells usually heal on their own and come back normal afterwards so it's to give the cells time to repair. They assured me that just because the cells come back normal it doesn't mean that it'll turn into cancer.
