Overbearing MIL "needs a boy"
My MIL is a piece of work. Her relationship with my husband (and with me) is strained - this predates me even meeting my husband. Ever since we told her we were having a baby, she started insisting it would be a boy - suggesting boy names, telling all her friends and relatives it was a boy, telling me I'd have ALL boys bc she did and it runs in her family. Well, lo and behold, we are having a girl.
I'm now 33 weeks along and I stil hear her refer to our daughter as "he" sometimes, and most recently, after blatantly telling me she wants TWO grandkids (like - good for you?), she started going on about the next one has to be a boy because she "needs a (last name) boy." And i got so pissed off bc it's like our daughter isn't good enough or something, just because she isn't this coveted boy. She must've seen the look on my face bc she then started going on about how "she's just happy with whatever blessings she's given."
I thought I was going to go through the roof. Anyone else deal with a similar situation or have any words of advice?
