Inlaws want to buy baby gifts, but I hate them. Advice wanted!
So I hate my inlaws. They are shitty people, bad parents, and HORRIBLE inlaws. I am not going to give them the opportunity to also be horrible grandparents to my precious baby. I made this clear to my husband a year before we conceived, and have never wavered in it. I am not interested in opinions about this part of the post, I have a long list of legitimate reasons for feeling this way.
They told my husband they want to give us 3 months worth of diapers. Its a very generous gift, but I don't feel comfortable taking it. They know I don't like them, and I feel like this is manipulation on their part. Like they want to swoop in now and play the caring, loving grandparent role. I feel like accepting the gift would encourage their BS behavior. I would prefer to tell them not to bother, because they're not going to have a relationship with the child anyway.
So, would you accept the gift?
