Hcg quant tripling every 48hrs, possible twins?

My hcg started at 47 then 148 then 424 all blood is drawn every 48hrs, I'm going back today to get my next results. Dr told me possible twins, and he laughed I thought he was joking but he wasn't lol. What's everyones thoughts?
