nursing cover help

I have a 1 week old and I was hoping to get some advice from more experienced breastfeeding mommas. I have used a cover a few times and it is so awkward and hard to do. Are there any techniques and/or covers you suggest to make things easier? I've only used the cover at home with company, but I can't imagine trying to do it in public. I know the further along I get im sure the easier it will all be.. but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips.
