advice ?

I am currently 38w6d.

My husband and I had sex around 3am yesterday. About 3 hours later I woke up in a lot of pain, menstral cramping pain that was pretty intense. About an hour after that what I am assuming was my mucus plug started to come out. Snot like goo with blood streaks in it. The pain was pretty constant for about two hours then changed to about every 8 minutes. I got to rest for about an hour or so. All day I had moderately painful contractions that kept me from doing much. Every time I went to the bathroom I still had my mucus plug coming out. Contractions got a little easier and I got up and made my son dinner and cleaned up . Got my son to bed and took a warm shower to ease my back pain no mucus plug then.. I am now laying in bed trying to get some sleep but contractions are horribly painful now. Lasting about a minute 7 minutes apart. Also, the contractions are giving me diarrhea and more mucus plug coming out. 

Should I be worried and head to the hospital ? Or just false labor and need to tough it out? Baby is moving around just fine by the way . Sorry for the book !
