when to stop using baby monitor

Question

When did you finally put the monitor away for your older children? My son will be 2 1/2 when baby sis is born and I still watch him on the video monitor every night. Trying to decide whether we need to get a second camera or just give it to the baby and let it go for my first.

My daughter is 3 years old and I still use it. I like to kinda half way know what she is doing when she is out of sight in her room. It helps me know if she's digging in her closet 😂

We actually stopped using ours when our kids are around 1. I am not sure why I guess our bedroom has always been right beside theirs or right across the hall and I am a pretty light sleeper so I know I will hear them if needed.

I will probably use it until he is about 5. My son is 4 and has always had sleep walking and slight seizure issues at night. So we keep the video on just to keep an eye on him when he gets out of bed, just to make sure he isnt having an episode. Its the motorola one where we can move the camera back and forth with our monitor.  He will be sharing a room with his little brother as well, so we will continue to use it for awhile.

My daughter will be 5 in November and I still have hers set up.  She's at the other end of our house so if she wakes up and calls me I wouldn't be able to hear her.  Plus I like to snoop on her and her friends to make sure they're playing nice! Lol So we are getting a second camera/monitor for the baby.

My daughter will be 2 when baby is here and we got an extra camera. I haven't moved her to a toddler bed yet and she wakes up very early. I'm sure we will use a camera until I can trust her in a toddler bed.

My girlfriend has an almost 3 year old and a 1 year old. She still has a camera for both. The oldest is in a toddler bed, but she just likes to have an eye on him for the "just in case" moments.
