How to stop cutting? Advice?

Question

Does anyone have advice on how to stop cutting? I have a long term relationship with cutting and it is so hard to stop. The longest I can hold out is less than a week....

Distract yourself. I found adult colouring books super helpful!

Think long term. This pain isn't a permanent pain, but the scars are. 
I've got a scared arm and thigh now even though I've overcome everything and have a baby coming.

Covering with a tattoo (if you're thinking that) isn't always possible because of all the scar tissue.

Find other things that give the same release as cutting. 
&& talk to someone! A profession! They can help a lot

A lot of my friends have struggled with self harm for years. The best advice I can give is to prepare yourself for the reality of it. You're going to back slide. All of my friends have. But knowing that is what helps you move past it. It's not, "Jesus Christ I cut again I'm such a failure" that's just gonna lead you in a negative spiral that will force you back to where you started. Instead say "okay, I slipped up and cut again. It's not okay, but I can only move forward" You might only be able to last less than a week without it now, but if you just keep trying,  slowly, it'll turn into a full week,  maybe even 8 days. Then a little longer and longer and longer. Again you might slip up at different times, sometimes after a month, other times after an hour, but making the choice to stop and to just keep at it is what matters most. I used to cut for 4 years so I understand the difficulty of trying to stop. I relapsed so many times I lost count and even now 7 months clean I still thinking about cutting just because I miss it. I think my best advice would be to talk to close friends, tell them what's going on and what you want to do about it. When you feel like cutting, talk to them. Tell them why you want to and just talk through things with them. The best thing that happened to me was meeting my best friend and number one supporter a year ago.

Hi I did it for years , helped I had a great bf to help me but you just have to distract yourself sleep earlier get a rutein it helps. I usto draw when I was sad instead of cutting. You can only do it if u want to stop

Draw on yourself instead or dristract yourself with something else, something you enjoy even. I used to cut and a mix of that helped

Try finding an activity that uses your hands that could distract you, I was able to distract myself by drawing/tracing very detailed patterns. It takes a lot of focus and it somehow worked. Another thing I heard is snapping a rubber band on your wrist instead?
