When should you return back to work after having your baby?

Hi all, I have a quick question. When should I return back to work after having my baby. I'm due October 17 and I don't qualify for disability or paid family leave. If you were to be in this position when are you returning back to work

My office won't even let us step trough the door until 6 weeks post partum. You either save your sick and vacation time or you're out the pay.

6 weeks after baby is born is recommended for a non complicated pregnancy. 8 weeks for c section is recommended. I understand if you're unpaid you'll want to go back sooner, just take care of yourself and remember you'll never get the first few weeks back to bond with baby! Good luck!

Id say 6 weeks at the least. Especially if you have a c section .. but also if you plan on using daycare most daycares require newborns to be 6 weeks before enrollment. If your time out is unpaid, budget and maybe try to see which bills you can put on hold for a month or two (example student loans) buy that first few weeks with your child is priceless

4-6 weeks for me. I guess it just depends on my recovery. If I'm feeling good I'll go back at 4, if I need more time I'll take 5-6. If I end up with a cesarean I suppose I'll have to take 8. Really hoping I have a uncomplicated birth 😭

I would take as much time off as you can even without pay!

I was told I could return back to work as soon as the doctor released me(usually 4-6 weeks).

I'm taking 3 months unpaid time off though and just applied for food stamps for the short term. We have a little saved, but it's going to be extremely tight even without the cost of food.

I'd definitely take as much time as possible that you can afford to take and just cut back anywhere you can while you're off. It's unfortunate that not every mother can take time off and that they only allow such little time.

I'm taking off for two months and a couple weeks maybe. But I plan to work seasonal part time in January then stay home again until next August/September. If all goes well. It's going to be tight and I'll be on foodstamps/WIC and that'll help so I recommend you try that too!!

Often a doctor won't even release you for 6 weeks. If there is any way to swing that, try to take the time to recover!
