Nanny or day care center???

Question

For all the moms out there what do you prefer for childcare… A nanny (in home) or A state regulated day care center? I'm struggling with deciding as there are pros and cons to each… Please leave experiences both positive and negative. Any help would be greatly appreciated for this first time mom!!!!

I am nanny all the way. A nanny will most likely be more expensive but the benefits will far outweigh the cons if you have a great one. I would look for a nanny that has a background in education in some shape or form. They will have a mind that understands child development and how to expose kids to learning opportunities (even babies).

Before I became an elementary school teacher I taught in a well known daycare chain. I was not okay with how some teachers managed their classrooms and what the kids did with their time during the day. Also, in the infant room we were not allowed to hold the babies for fear that they would require constant holding.

I want someone that can nurture and protect my child while I'm not able to be there for my child.

I personally am a nanny! I have both lived with a little girl I nannied for and now the little boy I watch comes to my house. Now I may be considered a personal daycare? However I devote all of my attention to one family and in particular one little one. I can personally say that when you have one on one care you just simply get more personalized care. With the little girl I knew her routine and I moved myself around to fit it. I did not move her to fit a generalized schedule of other children. I loved her, and I still do. I am still auntie to her. We built a trust because she knew me. She knew every day she would have me versus an array of different workers. With both kids I have/had full capability to teach them the things their parents feel/felt important. Values, habits, things we do in free time:) it's expensive but worth it(:

I'm doing neither. We are doing an in home daycare after he is 6 months (I teach so MIL is taking him the last 5 or so weeks of school then I'll have summer with him).  We can't afford a nanny and after working in multiple daycare centers I don't want him in one until he is older. No particular reason, really, the daycare centers were fine....just not someplace I'd want my Lil guy.

I couldn't afford a nanny so I sent my son to daycare lol but I like the fact that multiple people are accountable for your baby. However, the first daycare I chose was not the best fit for him. The staff was decent at childcare but business wise they were awful. I'd call in the middle of the day and no one would answer. They watched way too much tv. 
After he was about 3 I was able to move him to a more professional structured setting. It was like he was going to kiddie school and even had simple homework assignments. I pulled him out at age 6 when we moved across town and about a year later the same daycare was on the news for one of the staff members having physically abused one of the children! Unfortunately once you leave your child with someone it's really just a game of luck 😩
