4oz of formula?

My 6 day old baby sometimes drinks close to 4oz of formula.. I feel like that's way too much for her to handle 😟 she spits up maybe 2/3 times every feeding.. am I over feeding her? 😭 FTM & im trying to figure this out.. doctor told me to give her as much as she wants but isn't her stomach the size of a marble rn?:(

Mine did the same, try slowing her down by burping her after every ounce. Seemed to work for me!

Holy shit that is a lot!!! That's why she is spitting up 2/3rds of it. My son is 3 weeks old and is eating 3 oz which is a lot. He was eating around an ounce or so if I remember correctly

Even though everyone says that's a lot, I think the more inportant indicator is the spitting up. Try burping every ounce. That being said, I have an almost 4 week old who sometimes eats 5-6 ounces (usually early morning and late evening feedings), who handles it fine. She rarely spits up as long as I burp her at every 2ish ounces.

But if baby is cueing that they are done, then that means they are done. My daughter *normally* only eats 3-4 ounces in a sitting before she either passes out when being burped, or stops eating and just pushes the bottle out of her mouth.

That seems like a lot. My pediatrician told me about 2-3 ounces her pound per day. So I guess it depends how much baby weighs. But my son is 6 weeks old and he can't even tolerate 4 ounces without spitting a bunch up at the end.

I agree. It's too much too soon.  Babies will keep eating even well after they should. I would try 2-2.5 maybe 4 oz if she is really upset. At least for the first two weeks?  If she ate 4 and didn't spit up I would probably say whatever works for the the baby but this isn't working at the moment.
My daughter will be two weeks Saturday and eats 2-2.5 oz. I start with that and if she keeps fidgeting and looking for food I will give her another 0.5 oz. Even then sometimes she will get sick and I will know she got too much.
Try giving a binkie after the first 2.5 oz and see if that helps? Sometimes they are just rooting for a soothing reflex.

4oz seems like way too much and if she's spitting up every time it probably is. 2oz is what we gave my baby

6 ounces is a lot for a 6 day old baby  I would try feeding baby a lot less
