shingles during pregnancy?

I'm 26+5 and have been having excruciating pain on the right side of my face the last two days, went to the ER as requested by my doctor and found out it may be SHINGLES.

Has anyone else had shingles before or during their pregnancies? I'm barely hanging on by a thread, can't believe this was the diagnosis. Baby is doing absolutely fine but I'm still really stressed out and they want me to stay super calm right now because stress really makes it flare up something awful.

Plus, to top it all off, my sister is getting married next weekend and our baby shower is the weekend after. 🔪🔪🔪

I had shingles this pregnancy when I was around 5-6 months pregnant. I have never had chicken pox (I did have the vaccine) so it's rare for me to get it. I was started on antiviral medications to help it clear quicker. My ob did blood work to check my igg/igm to varicella to make sure I had immunity. As long as you have immunity to varicella ( chicken pox) your baby will be ok. I was told they only worry when there is no immunity or you are about to deliver. How far along are you? I wish you luck! I was totally freaked out and upset.

My mom got shingles when she was pregnant with me. She said the doctor told her they we're stressed induced and prescribed her a glass of wine 2-3 times a week 😂

I would get a second opinion. The hospital told my grandma she had them and turns out it was an allergic reaction to something she was around. But they do make a cream that helps a lot. I don't know what the name of it is.

I had shingles when I was two, and now I'm 20. Some cases are very mild and don't leave too much damage, I unfortunately got the bad hand, and was hospitalized for 3 months, and now all my nerves are dead and I'm all numb on my lower back and right hip.. hopefully you get the easy end
