Do y'all think CNA work is too much on the baby?

I'm a CNA and I've been out of work for 2 months. This lady called me in for a interview at this nursing home, but everybody keep telling me I shouldn't do it bc of the pulling, lifting and getting ppl in the showers. Do y'all think all that could make me go into labor early? I'm 27 weeks and 6 days

I worked as a CNA through both of my pregnancy with my first on a cardiac surgery unit up until my water broke and with my 2nd in the ER until 3 days before my induction. You just have to use the same body mechanics you should use when your not pregnant and know your comfort levels and stay hydrated most importantly

It's on how much your body can handle.  Im a caregiver and still working FT at 39 wks.  Only you know what your body can handle.  I agree that u should be honest at the interview & see what can happen from there.

Iv been a cna for 5 years and when I was 6 months pregnant my dr told me no more. The stress the risks. It's not worth it

I am a CNA and I have stupidly continued working. I mean I'm almost 34 weeks and my last day is November 4 so 37 weeks. I DO NOT recommend CNA work. I'm more fortunate because I work in assisted living so it isn't AS much hands on care but it still hurts. At 33+5 (today) I'm contemplating calling my divot to have her check me because my hips and pelvis hurt SOOOOO bad I'm worried I might be going into preterm labor. Be VERY careful.

Yes! Way too much. I've done that work myself while working in a rehabilitation facility... Way too much.

You shouldn't be lifting more that 25 to 30lbs consistently  right now.  So maybe not. If you had already been doing the work then maybe but I wouldn't jump back into it (I've been a cna and understand its requirements) if you need the money maybe you can work it a different dept for a while?  Laundry, kitchen aide or activites?

If you have to do heavy lifting I'd say don't do it. Perhaps you should go to interview though and be upfront about being pregnant. But really you should ask a doctor. More than anything it's the strain it puts on your muscles. And your abdominal muscles weaken as you go along pregnancy. The rest just depends on you.

I work in a nursing home, I've been there for 2 years and I am 6 months pregnant. Tbh yeah the work is tiring and more strenuous than say an office job. But aslong as you are using the correct manual handling processes and listen to your body you should be okay. I am having twins so I am finishing up early, 28 weeks. However another girl just took her maternity leave with a singleton and worked up until 35 weeks. I just make sure I don't do any extremely heavy residents and if I must I will always get a third or fourth carer to help :)
