What's wrong with O- blood???

I just read on here that a lady had type O- blood and had to take Rohgam shots. I have O neg blood. What do I need to know or be concerned about?

It's the negative part of the blood type that may cause issues.... any blood type with the negative.  If the father of the baby has a positive blood type, the positive may be introduced to mom thru the baby and cause mom to make antibodies against  any pregnancies following the initial pregnancy that the mom reacted with. So these mom's with this blood types are given rhogam shot to prevent this

I may be wrong.. But O - is rare and chances of the babies blood being the same are rare. So they give shots to help with compatability.. I may be thinking of something else tho.

It's not the O it's the negative. That's your rhesus status and if your negative and your baby is pos then your body may create antibodies to fight off the baby. It just means when you're pregnant you have to get injections when you reach a certain point. Not a huge thing these days.

It's any RH negative blood..... It is because your baby may not be RH negative and if you have any bleeding you need to get the rhogam shot because your body could see the baby as something it needs to attack. I had to have the shot at 8 weeks because I lost one of my twins and I will get it again at 28 weeks and then again after the baby is born so that my body doesn't try to attack any other pregnancies.
