Summer with a newborn

Hi, im a FTM living in australia and my little girl is due in the middle of summer (new years eve) im just wondering how some of you other mothers went keeping yourself and baby cool in summertime and if there is anything i can do to cool us down if we get to hot. We have an air con but i get pretty annoyed being inside all the time. Opinions on laying in a baby pool with bub? (Obviously holding her)
