First ultrasound at 6w 3D

Doctors office just scheduled me for an ultrasound at 6w 3D. Does this seem too early?? I don't want to have to go back again if we are unable to see the baby! Thoughts? Should I ask for an apt the week after? Last pregnancy I went in around 7-8 weeks.
