picking a pediatrician?

I went into labor and delivery for preterm contractions a while ago (I'm fine now) but they asked who my baby's pediatrician is? I said I have no idea? They said I better hurry and pick one. (I'm 27 weeks) what do I just call a pediatrician and ask if they'll be my baby's doctor when he's born? I'm so confused.

I wasn't ready to pick one with my first, so my family practitioner saw her until I found a pediatrician I like.  Check who takes your insurance and ask locals for referrals of who they like.

I would check to see which clinics accept your insurance and see if they are accepting new patients.  I'd also look for clinics close to your home, maybe ones that offer weekend hours.  Things that would be important to you. Most offices offer a free visit for parents to be so you can meet pediatricans to see if you like them or to ask questions.
