Avery Carter's Birth Story

Nicole
My precious little guy was born exactly 1 week after his due date of 10/4. My doctor had decided on his due date to induce me on 10/12 at 1am because she'd be back from out of town and on-call at the hospital, if I hadn't given birth or gone into labor before then.
She scheduled me for 2 BPP's, one Friday, 10/7 and Monday, 10/10. The one Friday was great, the one Monday was too, except the fluid around baby was high. Should have been 25 and was at a 28. The on-Call doctor suggested I be induced that day with the risk of my water breaking and the placenta possibly tearing.
My SO and I did not freak out, we made the decision that was best for us. So, although my doctor was OOT, we decided to be induced. We got to the hospital at 8pm on 10/10, started Pitocin by 9pm and I did start having contractions that were bearable. I was told the doctor would break my water at 5am. Well, the doctor came in at 6 and said the baby was still too high so he'd come back at 7. At 7:30, another Dr came in and broke my water and my contractions went from 0-100 in minutes, just like my nurse said.
I wanted to go natural buuuut, I ended up getting an epidural. I am not at all disappointed because I told myself I'd do whatever I could to bring this baby into the world healthy and happy. I did begin pushing around 7pm, only with the help of my SO and my night nurse to bring baby down past pelvic bone. By that time, I had begun to feel pressure in my pelvis, which is why my nurse started coaching me to push.
I was 9cm! Once the doctor got there, I pushed a total of 9 times before baby was out. Although I had an epidural, I felt EVERYTHING! I'm sure I screamed a few curse words. Only had a very small tear. Lol my little guy was born at 11:33pm at 8lbs and 4oz! We are so over the moon! Sorry for the long story!
